RE: Automotive Relays different types
Hello

30 and 87 (87a) are standards:
30 - direct battery+
87 (and sometimes 87a) - relay output
so if You see theese You are good to go

if no standard signs on the relay then there is some option too:
if are picture on it like type2 left side - You can see You need to connect 3 to 5
if no picture on it then You can measure the relay coil or the wire harness or find a wire diagram

you are right, if relay not activate (no power and ground to a coil pin 85 and 86) contact is connect from pin 30 to pin 87a, and let say if you hook up pin 86 to ground; pin 85 to your IGN switch so when you turn On your IGN switch the relay will Activate then the contact will move from 87a to 87(now 30 is disconnected from 87a and connected to 87). The Arrow from pin 30 to 87a mean contact from pin 30 to 87a normally Close, Pin 30 and pin 87 is normally Open). When relay is Activate it will pull the Arrow from 87a to 87 so now pin 30 and pin 87 is Close; pin 30 and 87a is Open.
