If I am understanding all of the above correctly, I could use a passthru adapter for the newer Mercedes, and a C3 mux for the older cars, all on a single installation/computer per the first post. Is this correct? If so, are there car models (not interested in buses or trucks) that I'd miss with this setup?

i am too, curious to test many things with this xentry passthru, waiting for my device arrive.
your idea is good too if you can patch das to be used with c3 (need sdconnect toolkit, patches etc).
imho, if that's you want to do (passthru+c3), then there will be no das vehicles that you can't diagnose, coding and programming.

w204 and w212 prototype are vehicles that i want to check the coding with this das passthru.
and of course, my daily do with bus and truck. impossible? let's check the impossible.
anyway, it is just fo fun.

I have ordered the Passthru software for North America and will be using it with my passthru. My understanding of it, if should function close to what C4 does, minus pre 1996 cars. I need it more for SCN coding than anything else. Seems like everything needs coding nowadays. will keep you posted on what happens.

I installed all according to plan on windows 10 x64, and seems its working, havent connected to a vehicle yet. The thing that's happening, if i connect to the net, i loose the activation key. I entered it again, go offline and worked. this happened a few times. I tried entering the key in the ConfigAssist tool, seems like key invalid and now even when it says the key is valid on the old Star Key utility, always says key invalid. Tried installing 0 zero patch, same. are we not supposed to entered the key there? I might redo the whole thing under windows 7, just want make sure if i did something wrong.

Thanks @JSL for the feedback. noted. but it is weird. i have tried install in win 10 x86 32bit dell e5510, sometimes connected to internet to update addons and it is no problem.
i don't use it anymore because i just want to feel the win10. my win7 so far no problemo.

I have 64bit Windows 10 running on Toughbook CF-19 mk3, but I suspect the issue is not the 32/64 bit or the hardware. How long did you have it connected to the internet and did you have Xentry or standalone DAS running at the time?

After installing and applying the fixes etc. I was able to launch Xentry without issues and I also configured the network to allow communication with SDConnect C4 (I did not try plugging it into the car and running diagnostics). Rebooted the computer and did it all again to make sure everything was working. It was. Then maybe 30mins later Xentry would not start anymore but would show me the "No access authorization code" error.

I should note this exact same thing happened with Win7 (32bit) and the Xentry (also version 2017.12) installation that was on the computer when it arrived from China.

My understanding we need a different solution in order to have internet on. Looks like its a paid solution. Seems like its from version 2017-12. For me offline fine, as long as everything else works.

Yes, the solution is not working any more, when you trying to edit the xml and .ini file for localhost, you dont loose keys,and when you trying to make SCN coding it give`s you an error.

Guys if you dont do SCN and you need internet be connected, you have to change original files appserv.ini and .xml to https://localhost in ZBUS

it will block server to check keys but you will not be able to do SCN!

I don't think anyone will help you with this, at least for now. Its a paid solution. If its a huge need, the cost is not that high. There's a few people here that will make it work for a small fee.
Now, that said, there is an image of an install floating around that supposedly using good patch, shouldn't be hard to find. its in german language.

Afaik, there is an old (x471) trick that was used to prevent xentry key being deleted.
maybe, we should try that again. i heard that it works good with xdos 2017-12 scn online.
