@Ombra, yes and yes...but it's not that simple.

So there are two different programs we talking about

DAS (older models, but still most cars communicate through this program)
Xentry (new model cars)

If you set it up correctly, you can program offline in DAS only. Then if we need to go online with DAS we switch the modified flash folder to the original.

Xentry there is no offline programming to my knowledge, only online. Obviously, you need to have login and pass to go online.

And yes we can do 'synchronizations', miss daimler calls them adaptations.

hello i have a problem the 2018-05 , have 2 hardware id in old starkeycenter 4770927DCE1A in config assist  4ADFFBF954D8 my App ID 252 and not accept the keys error SC00003E  , have you some solution ? i have used the only X64 old key and copy only the file in the folder /wowsys64. My os WIN 8.1pro x64

after copy the file to SysWOW64, run "old key loader for configassist or startkeycenter 64bit.reg"

I have problem when I try save StartKey in ConfigAssist, the system show that the StartKey installed Successfully, but validation dates does not change, I follow by clicking Apply and Continue.
Now I am trying run Xentry but System show two errors. first 2221-48 Authentication has failed and after this one 2221-1 Xentry coul not be started.
Ok. now return to ConfinAssist and what I see, that the StartKey changed to old.
Any idea?

it will be a problem if you don't update addons for scn online. btw, try to use configassyst only.
the steps in first post are already complete, easy and work. don't mix with other patches.
if you get trouble, try to install again from scratch and look every steps carefully.
it is worth it.

try to turn off your internet. after success save the startkey, lock it to avoid getting deleted when online then you can turn on again your internet.
after you get the experience, probably you will succeed even without turn off internet.

go to control panel, click user accounts. check if your current user account is administrator or not.
if not, create a user accounts with admin rights.
click also "change user accounts control settings" set to never notify

note for xentry developer keygen
- set early date too eg from 2010-2017.
  sometimes it is the most new users problem, stumble with xentry developer key
