They must have the same TPI if the number differs. Many thanks for your help Popdog. I went to a different dealer and gave them that TPI number... they updated the firmare to the latest without any questions (or cost so a definite result. Audi Q5 2014 S-Line + Black Edition. 3G+ MMI.

That SVM is for software version management and requires an ODIS online connection for your RMC to sync with the ODIS server and let it know your firmware has been updated. If it doesn't go online you get an SVM error. Doesn't break anything though.. just annoying error. In older Audi MMIs it was possible to set the bit that told the unit it had been synched and hence the error went away. These days with the MIB2s, it doesn't appear that this is possible.. |

I agree it's a little annoying but I'm not overly happy to pay Audi £60 for doing pretty much nothing. Everytime the dealer argues they have to run the whole process again but they forget that Erwin is open to the public and this just isn't true...It's a 30second job once the car is plugged in and they've logged on.

For RMC you can try TPI/TSB : 2043114/4 System restarts when using with Apple Devices. So you can tell sometimes the Device is restarting and sometimes not when you or some of your family/friends use it with Apple Device over Bluetooth Audio or Audi Music Interface. So you can go up to last Firmware and then RMC is EOL.
I don't had a RMC here till today, but I think update is also possible for yourself. Service Bulletin states: EU / RDW / Mexico: • HW-Version between H50 including H59: Updatemedia Part Number 8X0 906 961 T K16158 - SVM Code RMC18EU • HW-Version H60: Updatemedia Part Number 8X0 906 961 S • HW-Version higher as H60: Updatemedia Part Number 8X0 906 961 AD K16342 - SVM Code RMC19EU If my answer helped to fix anything, then don't forget to give me some rep please!

The process to do it yourself is a piece of cake - just don't do it yourself if you're OCD about diagnostic errors after
If you have a very old version to start with as well, make sure your battery is in good condition or you have a charger connected as it can take a while - to go from my 2011 factory version to the latest took almost 2 hours!! |
