So looking to build this thread,

Currently crossed flashed 8N2920980D into a 8N2920980C

First issue,
980D cluster has 170mph speedo
980C cluster has 160mph speedo

To fix this I found address 0x38 change from CE to CD

This solves the speedo mph issue.

Next issue,

Handbrake light stuck on
All pointer and scale leds on from ignition on ( adaption channel 19 not present )

Now I know to solve 2nd issue is between 0x00 and around 0x80

I flashed 980C data into 980D between above addresses and those issues resolved

But now next issue is fuel gauge working backwards

But wondering if anyone has ever looked hard into the data for these?

If you take a look on the codecard homepage on 2j74y repair there they write about solution but you must send them both dumps full HC08 and HC12.
Flash repair you do on hc08 on this dashes and there you can choose between i think 30 different versions for hc08

3) If everything is OK, just fuel gauge works in reverse – incorrect part (cluster) is installed in car. In Audi can be used 2 kind of fuel level meters – normal and reverse. Then fuel is empty one dash can show “0”, other “full”.
This fault usually appears when you swapping instrument clusters. Is not possible to adapt fuel gauge type by ODB2, you must exchange instrument cluster.
We can reprogram this function by full dash software programming (we need to reprogram both processors (small HC08 and big HC12) and after make instrument cluster immobilizer adaptation

i had some with different faults like needles on wrong position no lights one where needles jumped around in all positions all lights inside of car was flashing on ignition on immo not worked sometimes fuel pump turned on off on off....
All solved by new hc08 programmed with correct version by carprog or only flash repair on some dashes

What is the difference between a copied new hc08 mcu and this repair function?

I have some Magneti dashes from a3 and tt where SOMETIMES the fuel pointer shows full or goes back to middle after turning cluster on bench off.

I’ve fixed fuel gauge issue by changing bit in data read.

Just can’t solve pointer light bit.

I know the bit in concern but not found correct solution for it. I think it’s linked with other bits.

I don’t need to replace any chip. the fault is the data inside the chip because I crossflashed it.

I’ve now got a full 980D software into a 980C with only 1 bit changed.

And that 1 bit is to turn off the pointer and scale lights so they only function with light switch on.

I only want pointer lights on when ignition on.

I’ll look further for solution

Nice work

But maybe you can solve issue that fuel pointer sometimes doesnt move downwards after turning cluster off. It moves to middle every time. And when i turn cluster on, its on right position but moves back to middle after turning it off.
Already installed new motor and hc08 mcu.

Hardware fault on board or car.

Solved backwards fuel gauge.

Unable to solve pointer lights.
Either both pointer and scale leds on all time or both on when via light switch.

I think its hardware fault on board because the cluster is on bench and not installed in the car. It also appears after turning cluster 3-4 time on/off and then it disappears again.

At Your problem: you can solve it by coding. In MCU 17 (cluster) you can code when und which lights go on.
