GM MDI Manager install will have shortcut on desktop and you choose if you want it installed or not.

But when I restart Gds2, I see the message "No TIS connection available"

I am using Gds2 vmware, update 2016.

Of course it can be installed fresh.
Officially is i stalled fresh but you need activation and lease time to make it works. Thats why peaple use the VMware solution because you have activation and can keep the lease time forever.
Well I am not living in US so I cannot try in NA cars but I tried the GM NA package in a Chevrolet EU and belivme it wasn't any difference because the I used GM Global version

Depending of what clone you have. I had a good one in my hand and I updated it with the last GM MDI Manager and tested it with the lastest version of GDS2 and 2018.3 pacakge
