Also I noticed in the rheingold launcher thread you said you were using windows 7 32bit. Are you using the 32bit system also for ista? I'm only asking because windows 32bit systems can only utilize 3.5GB ram. So even if you have 8GB ram sticks installed the system will only use 3.5GB of it. To use all of the ram you need windows 64bit installed.

You guessed right! I use 2 laptops. I use an old laptop with Win7 32bit for most of my coding, but decided to use my faster laptop running 64bit Win7 for the ISTA VMs. Exactly for the reason you state: ISTA VMs need lots of memory and 32bit is capped at around 3.5GB which is not nearly enough. In fact, even with 4GB available on my 64bit laptop it was too slow which is why I upgraded to 8GB. Much better now. But it still codes very slow. But at least now, if I every need ISTA/P, I have it.

For now, I do pretty much everything on my 32bit machine running BST2.12 with NCSExpert.

Very fast cpus don't make that much of a difference (i5 will run it the same as i7).

But you can speed up the loading up of the vms alot by installing them on a ssd drive (snapshots will restore a lot faster). And because you have alot of ram you can change the VMware workstation memory settings via the main menu to speed it up a little (edit > preferences > memory > additional memory > fit all virtual machine memory into reserved host RAM).

Note: do not increase the actual ISTA vm memory settings above 4GB. 4GB is optimum.

But you cannot speed up the initial diagnosis/coding part much. ISTA/D/P are always slow when doing the initial vehicle check/scanning of modules. Especially slow when using a K+DCAN cable.

If using K+DCAN:

In the ICOM vm you can try changing the K+DCAN cable transmit/receive speed in advanced settings to 4096 (see pic below). Important: latency timer should be always set to 1 to avoid communication problems.

If your computer has 6gb RAM or more, set ISTA vm to 4gb.
If your computer has 4gb RAM leave the ISTA vm set at 2Gb.

I've updated the mod.

Now supports new ICOM A2 clone. So if you apply this mod the combined ISTA vm will work with ICOM A clone, ICOM A2 clone and ICOM emulator V3.1.

Yes working fine for me.

With utorrent program I'm getting approx 15 seeds and fast download. No special tracker, just added the torrent as normal.

Just tested my client with some known torrent and I'm getting good 1.5mb connection. Are you using DHT or local peer discovery?

Update: Still no go - I took down firewall and vpn, enabled local peer and DHT but still not transmission. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have DHT, local peer discovery, peer exchange and Protocol encryption all enabled in utorrent 3.4.1.

How long have you left it? May take a while to start (up to 15 mins to find seeds).
