1.8 CDA Jolts
Hi

This will sound weird but I have literally tried everything and can't get to the bottom of the problem with this
2011 Superb 1.8 TSi CDA ea888 engine, 125k miles

between 1.8k-2.5k rpm on light acceleration some jolting occurs, almost like it missed 1 or 2 ignition pulses, then carries on normal. Happens every time you let go and come bnack on accelerator but only around 20% max. On full throttle it runs smooth.

It also happens when doing 70mph on motorway on cruise control, then it sits on 2.3k rpm and intermittently feels like starts misifirng for 0.5-1s then stops and drives fine.
So far I have replaced
- NGK spark plugs - no difference
- Hella coil packs - no difference
- PCV valve - no difference
- new MAF - genuine - no difference
- Throttle body borrowed from friends car, no difference
- all 4 BOSCH injectors
- valves been cleaned
- timing chain not stretched according to VCDS, showing -0.6deg in group 93, believe its been done by previous owner
- runner flaps deleted and mapped out - no difference
- esp ruled out

When doing data logging, literally all current values match specified values, this is true for fuel pressure, throttle angle, inlet cam angle, boost, lambda

I am literally pulling my hair out trying to figure out what the hell is going on with this.

Maybe some of you had come accross similar issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

RE: 1.8 CDA Jolts
Had a kinda similar issue on another brand of car.
When cruising on highway speeds and performing overtakes, the acceleration would suddenly disappear for a split second (you were still pushing the pedal, but nothing would happen, RPM was constant for a moment). No errors on the dash or on diag.

Turns out, one of the ABS sensors was glitching and giving incorrect signal. Car saw it as car starting to spin and lose control and cut power to the wheels.

Could be worth a shot to investigate readings from ABS sensors when such behavior happens in your car..

Thanks, will definitely check that route today

EDIT. Checked data, looks ok. Drove it without abs fuses so system disabled. Still doing it.

RE: 1.8 CDA Jolts
Have you checked for any possible ECU updates?
Could be a software glitch which is fixed with a newer firmware, you never know..

Running newest software as it had runner flaps deleted, that was done with virtual read so newest software.
