BMW F10 (03/2012) NBT EVO retrofit SLI/FCW issues
Hello,
I am working on a NBT EVO(ID4 flashed to ID5) retrofit in a 2012 F10. Got all working except i have some issues with SLI and FCW. SLI isn't working at all just displaying sign with --- in it. For FCW I can't change the settings in menu. It just doesn't remember the setting. Since it is a 2012 car it uses KAFAS1. Is there any FDL coding that can be done? Or do i need to convert to KAFAS2? Also other note is that the car have a 6WB cluster. If it needs KAFAS2 is it straight swapping units and getting the right FSC codes or do I have a lot more trouble when swapping to KAFAS2? Please don't offer FSC codes for KAFAS I know my way to get them. Kind regards, Lars |

As far as I am aware only way to solve that is to use the Carsystems MOST emulator because Kafas 1 and 2 do not use same bus speed.
So the emulator does the conversion nicely. From experience, any pre 07.2012 that has high beam assist or Kafas, I always use MOST emulator. Even if you convert ZGW to 8SK, it won't work anymore. Now someone else might have a hack, but I doubt so. Not a matter of changing a few wires. |

If you have all other working car system also has an emulator for SLI what has also the possibility to swap KAFAS1 messages to KAFAS2 messages and is much more cheaper than the MOST Fxx emulator.

Thanks for all the info. But i prefer to do it all without any emu since I didn't need one so far. Will contact carsystems for their options.
Just for the record swapping to KAFAS2 ECU and CAM is not an option? Small edit I flashed the ZGW to 8SK software. |

HI,
your car was build with Kafas1, but Kafas1 on F10 isnt compatible to NBT or NBT Evo. So you will need to use SLI emulator, this emulator will convert KAFAS1 information to NBT / NBT Evo. Or retrofit Kafas2 ecu and cam with a new windshield. The MOST retrofit adapter isnt needed, because your car should have right ZGW after flashing it. Thorsten |

Can you not FDL code the SLI option from gen1 to gen2 or the other way around? This is normal when doing 6WB retrofit, im not sure if it works the other way around though.
