I think if you upgrade MMI FW map key will be lost and navi locked.
Not 100% sure someone who update with already installed unlocked navi will confirm.

Updating the firmware didn't affect the maps at all for me.

The only thing I know the latest update sorts out for sure if the folding mirror missing menu bug. If you read the TSB on Erwin, there is more though.

Hi, all work on my rmc (q3) but no changes in the menus.
The update is not useful
Now, error with vcds : software management
But all works fine
In my opinion, it's useless to do it.

It isn't useless if you have folding mirrors - this fixes the bug for the missing menus.

For 5F error, it doesn't really affect the running of it.

If you have Bose, make sure you don't update the AMP unless you have VCP. To update, you need to insert the SD card and enter the engineering menu.

This does not update the Maps, only the firmware. Maps cannot be updated by yourself from files downloaded from here. Only dealership or send your unit off.
