XZBMW  Wastegate problem help
Hello everyone,

Im French, realy sorry for my bad word.

Context :

I have a BMW x6 e71 50i N63 engine from 2008. Following the breakage of the oil pump chain, the engine was completely rebuild.

This is also the case for the 2 turbo, they were controlled by the company STK Turbo Technic.

The diagnosis tells me this : Turbocharger 1 indicates charging pressure fault

So I did a lot of tests and I changed the following parts here is the list:

Changing the 2 solenoid valves (part 11747626350)
Change of breather (part 11157646087 and 11157575642)
Changing the 2 aircooler sensors (part 13627585493)
Changing the charge water pump (part 11517566335)
Change of 4 lambda catalytic probes
Changing the 2 seals of the turbos connecting the air boxes (part 13718655216)
Changing the 2 Throttle Housing Assy (part 13547555944)

The whole turbo boost system has been tested with a vaccum gauge. The wastegate moves well.

I use ISTA Rheingold for test my car. A little video of the turbo test :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXQcTdGmsjQ

Today I exchanged the plug of the pressure converter. The fault is now on boost number 2. With the error : The total charging pressure is too low

Before the plug swap, the fault is : Turbocharger 1 indicates charging pressure fault

A little video of the wastegate with the strange movement :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fximi6W7dTA

I think its an electrical problem but where ??!! What do you think ?

Thanks for your help

RE: Wastegate problem help
I'm pretty sure there a leak somewhere then sometimes a nightmare to find also if wastegate actuator is erratic when engine is idling then it is losing pressure smile you have mechanics stethoscope with tiny tube on end ?use that around all pipework you might find hole somewhere it only needs to be tiny and will mess up the whole boost let me know smile

Also check boost pressure sensor not gummed up as that will give pressure faults smile

RE: Wastegate problem help
Hello dil6222,

I reversed the power sockets of the pressure converters and to put it simply, the problem is now on the turbo 2. If I re-exchange the sockets, it's the turbo number 1 shit.

So it's a purely electrical problem in my humble opinion. No ?

And the 2x boost pressure sensor is new.

Thanks

Right so you can discount pressure then and yes as you say it seems purely electrical especially if swapping sockets moves the fault over to other turbo so its gotta be the wiring smile or a main unit is playing up ecu etc
Obviously the wastegate is not closing correctly to build up pressure for boost then gonna be 1 of those cars that makes you feel
like this gavel
