2004-2008 F150 Cluster brake light ON
Anybody want to share the detailed fix for the F150 brake light staying on?

Before you respond, this problem IS in the cluster and is a common issue with these, I don't usually do Ford clusters so I don't know the fix.

Respond in PM if you don't want to share public.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I do have a turbo powered rep button. rolling

If someone took the time to help you, the least you can do is take a few seconds and press two buttons!

Pull the parking brake release and with your foot push the pedal up so it sits firmly in the release position. If the light goes out your cable is stretched and needs adjustment and or replacement.
Check also liquid level

RE: 2004-2008 F150 Cluster brake light ON
So, I managed to get this repair done finally. The brake light was staying on and the interior lights did not work unless you flexed the circuit board.

Powering it up on the bench doesn't really offer a good way to recalibrate the needles, so mark them carefully with tape at the bottom stops before turning them clockwise past the stops and pulling them off with your fingers.

Powered up on the bench you can't test the brake light function either, because with no input from the ABS module the ABS and brake light will be on so confirming repair has to be done in the truck.

A reflow of the surface mount resistors marked in the picture (front of the circuit board) solved all the problems. Reflow all the ones circled in red.

I did find one resistor under the other connector that was cracked as well, and may have prevented a future problem biggrin

I imagine this is a common problem. Just had one in the shop last week with the same issue. Level sensor good, parking brake ok, IDS showed "brake fluid low level" in the instrument cluster data. Customer did not want to pay to have it fixed

Yes it is a common problem, and Ford wired the fluid level sensor with a closed loop so if you unplug the level sensor the light will come on.

For testing purposes you can unplug the level sensor and jumper the dark green/yellow wire and the tan/light green wire to keep the loop intact. Then if the parking brake is unplugged and the light is still on the problem is in the cluster.
