(Solved) Help needed - lost comm with almost all modules.
Two weeks ago my E65 2002 was fine, all communication with INPA, ISTA aso working. But the center display sometimes flickered or went completely blank. I bought a replacement on eBay, same part # 6 921 572. Installed it, but still flickering. As it didn't have access to comfort suspension or PDC, I decided against wasting time trying to code it and reinstalled my old display.

After messing with the car, I always check for errors with ISTA+ and delete them. This time about 2/3 of my modules were gone and the rest was a mess of weird names and red errors. I checked with INPA and same issue. The communication with the car seems to stop/crash.

I was under the impression that it might be the LM module that acted up, because it always failed to read and it holds the VO, so I decided to flash it with the VO of the CAS module, but suddenly the CAS module could no longer be read either.

Thinking maybe my K+DCAN USB cable was bad, I took out my CARLY Wifi adapter and tried using my iPhone. Still a lot of missing modules, including the LM. But for some reason Carly was able to read the LM settings for coding?

The car works 100% perfect when driving. It is only when trying to communicate outside the car, that I have problems.

So the pc can't be at fault, since the same problem appears on the wifi adapter. The soft on my pc is fine, because the iPhone has the same problem reading the car. The car runs just fine, all modules doing their job. So I guess something needs a reset, a sync?

RE: Help needed - lost comm with almost all modules.
Go to device manager and verify that your cable latency is 1ms, at least to try to solve the PC part.
Then if not, you will have to unplug K-line modules one by one until com is restored. Then you identified the faulty module.

You could also try a battery reset. Pull the negative terminal off the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes or so and then reconnect the negative terminal.

Latency is 1, thanks.

Pulling each and every module from the car seems extreme and very time consuming. Surely there must be a way to analyze first?

Tried that already, thanks.

RE: Help needed - lost comm with almost all modules.
Well, what do you know... Turns out to be Latency after all. Looks like Windows has been resetting quite a few setting when installing the recent 1803 update, including all my K+DCAN settings. Pure coincidence it happened when I was messing with the display.
Thanks a lot for helping out, Enabled, and seeing right through all of the above description. And thanks to dracon for chiming in.
