Basically:
1. i create windows xp virtual pc (vhd), called windows xp mode (you can try making win 7 32bit vhd etc etc). then i copy HHT program (or install) in its C drive, make hhtpkw shortcut to its desktop.

i am sure this is the way MB Engineers did and hide it from public.
When configured correctly, with fast computer, the end-user will never know that they are running the application in an virtual environment.

2. i use windows 7 64bit as a host. you can google, how to set windows xp mode in windows 8 64bit or windows 10 64bit as host.

purpose:
if you don't install sdnc toolkit in the xp mode vm, add slave=partt2 in hhtwin.ini, hht will freeze quite a long time before it is run.
if you install sdnc toolkit, hht is run almost instantly.
for slave=partd2, without sdnc toolkit, hht is run well.

Notes:
- 64bit xdos is the recommended version because of new MB VCI.
- if you have something usefull to add, don't hesitate to add it.

i hope you all will be entertained and get the ideas of running hht in 64bit system.
Testing is in progress... my goal to share is to show HHT can be called from XDOS (or as HHT standalone) and run in windows 64bit smoothly

Fine work, guy, but I have doubts about its necessity, it's much easier to have two operating systems on one hard disk, when an old car comes into service that works with HHT, just load x86 OS
you are guaranteed do not need XDOS 05/2018 to work whis W163
am I wrong?

@botya yes, your idea is good.
some of my friends dedicated one laptop with one mux(partD) for hht in their (big) workshops. while others want hht included in their winx64 just like the genuine MB diagnostic tool.
so what is the benefit of this thread other than revealing the secret behind hht in winx64?

I followed your instructions and got hht running in Win7 64, and then fixed my XP Mode Ethernet adapter to correct IP, then went and tried on a 38pin 208 chassis, but couldn't get HHTPKW to see my SDconnect

Do I need to set "slave=partt2" or "partt" in hhtwin.ini? I noticed its not in there after I left the car.

I also noticed that the XP Mode complained about duplicate IP address' , so when I was on the car, I tried only setting one adapter at a time to the SDConnect IP.

Did you try installing the toolkit in the XP Mode VM? You would want to give it a different IP than your SDConnect or Host OS, but on the same subnet.

for windows x64, no one test it yet

I did not install SDNC toolkit in the XP Mode VM. Good idea about different IP.

HHT freezes if I try to set Slave=partt2 and run the program. I put it aside for now, but I was also wondering if it needed .net framework or C++ runtimes. I can try next time I get a HHT car.
