Maybe I needed to write on this forum first. Here is the issue.

Working on friend's S1000RR. Does anyone know how to enable new key on S1000RR with EWS4? Old EWS module was damaged. My friend ordered new EWS module and one new key from BMW for his VIN. After the replacement of EWS module, the old key is working properly but the new key can not be activated. The old key is working with both the old and new EWS modules, but the new key does not.

need to change the key No. if it's key no. 1 make it 7 and it will work

How to do that? With which tool/software. ISTA can not enable it because it says it is not activated. The key is genuine BMW ordered along with the new EWS4 module.

the ews 4 on bmw bikes is the hardest mcu in it
if you can't make it with ista you can check tmpro2 that can add key to that ews4 i think bmw dealer supply you blank key or if its registered in ews but not registered in bmsx ecu so will not be able to use it
check with them first

personally i have and have made 4 units ews4 all key lost

I'm trying to understand how can this happen. I mean, buying new genuine BMW EWS4 module with new genuine BMW key, both ordered by VIN number and the new key dos not work. Very strange.

Let your freind ask them but logicaly
The key must be registered in ews and ecu
The old key worked because the new ews has been wrote by ecu internaly but the new key not registeted in ecu . my opinion
