What are the limitations on the IDS software?
For instance, i have a old V76 that i can program with a VCM1. Wont work on 2013+, which is due to the VCM1.
If V86 can use the VCM2, does V110 offer anything that the V86 cant do?
I know a legit subscription stops letting you program unless you update; does that still happen when patched/vmware/frozen or anything like that?

VCM1 is still working and is still supported on the latest version 110 IDS software. Some 2018 cars don’t work with VCM1, only VCM2.

Programming with your old IDS version 76 and 86 after 2013 have nothing to do with the VCM1, the software just doesn’t recognise the cars after this date.

Version 86 with a vcm1 is the most stable option for IDS up to year 2013. Later ids versions still work but some features in the software have been moved to online only.

I appreciate the info. I used the ids at a dealer for 10yrs, ford told us the vcm2 was needed in 2013.
I guess the vcm firmware will need to updated?

No firmware updates needed for a VCM1. The same firmware is used with v86 up to v110.

what happens if you update the VCM1 firmware? i got to try my vcm1 today on v110.01 and it asked to update it, i denied and went on testing. it worked like it should.

There are no issues updating firmware on a vcm1, but if you go back to an earlier version it will ask you to 'update' firmware to the earlier version and it is fine to do this.

Just curious, ford never told us anything, just where to pay for subcriptions lol
