RE: Lexia 7 communication issues: VIN detect but no ECU dialogue
I made the tests on a virtual machine: the host has USB 3.0 ports, but for the guest I filtered the VCI i/f on a USB 2.0 (EHCI) port.

I have also made some tests on a:
- netbook: Win7 32 bit NOT virtualized, DB 7.02
- notebook: Win7 32 bit virtualized, DB 7.02
both with a USB 2.0 controller on board

RE: Lexia 7 communication issues: VIN detect but no ECU dialogue
Question 1:
Does anyone notice something strange in my installation?

Question 2:
Exists a way to read serial number of VCI/PSA XS EVOLUTION without use "PSA Interface Checker"?
Example: an .txt or .xml file in DB folder, after that DB has update the firmware's interface (with MAJ_COM=TRUE)

Question 3 (academic):
if serial number of interface is banned, how is behavior of DB? At start asks for insertion of VCI interface?

Thanks

RE: DB communication issues: VIN detect but no ECU dialogue
With the purpose to test the VCI, I looked for a friend with a compatible car.
I found a Peugeot Partner, year 2005, diesel.

With this car, DB + VCI works and I can read (I tried only to read, the car is't mine) many parameters: tachometer value, position of headlight switch, etc.

Also if, later, I've discovered that Peugeot Partner 2005 probably use KWP protocol (and not CAN 11bit 500kb as the my car). Different protocol but same physical layer.
Is sufficient as test?

Someone can confirm me that CAN transceiver chip is right mounted on PCB?
That one mounted on my PCB has no pin1 reference.

CAN transceiver:
Microchip MCP2551 (mounted on original VCI) is much better than NXP A1040/C (mounted on some clones, as mine)?

TDK filter:
Is a polarized component? Being a integrated filter, I guess that is no polarized.

I just remembered that some boards require a 10K resistance for CAN BUS, check this:
