Hi friends. I have the same problem. My car is an audi a7 with edc 17. I can to write with kess v2 5.017 but i can´t to read this ecu.
kess id is this:

Thanks, but I don´t know to use ktag and boot mode.
I have got only kess.
I have to read that it can read with Virtual read.

Have you tried VCP PRO to write? You even got original .ori/.bin through the software or their forum
Back to basic....account reset to 2018  yikes
