Hi, just tried this but it did not work

"it did not work" does not tell anybody, anything.  If you want help, you should actually describe your issue in detail, as in what exactly you did and what the result was or was not.

1. Downloaded lynxbmw_Road Map North America PREMIUM (USB) 2019.7z from Mega.
   
2. Extracted lynxbmw_Road Map North America PREMIUM (USB) 2019.7z using 7zip.
   
3. Formatted 32GB Flash Drive with FAT32 file system
   
4. Copy contents from NAVD_00005C4B_255_005_229 to root of Flash Drive. (config.nfm and pkgdb with the sub contents
   
5. Started car, waited about 5 min for CIC to fully boot up.
   
6. Verify Current map is Road Map North American PREMIUM 2018-1.
   
7. Place Flash Drive into USB port located in Glovebox (e90)
   
8. Waited about 2-3 min.
   
9. No Prompt to start the update. 
   
10. Unplug Flash Drive and Replug, again no prompt.

Try a different flash drive. this happened to me with a brand new sandisc thumb drive, didnt work, took the microsd card from my camera, formatted, and tried that and worked perfect.

That all sounds correct, and car with 2018-1 as current map should not have any issue.  Just to clarify, the NAVD_00005C4B_255_005_229 itself cannot be on the USB Drive.

that is correct, NAVD_00005C4B_255_005_229 is not on the USB Drive.

My drive looks like this:


MAP: (name of my usb drive) 
        ROOT:
                 config.nfm 
                 pkgdb with the sub contents

I will trie a different USB to confirm.

I was still not able to make this work. 

Redownloaded, tried different flash drive and OS Windows 10 and win 7. 

if anyone else has any suggestion i'm all ears.

All seems correct in terms of what you're doing. As stated above - none of my modern USB 3.0 drives work (not recognised), so I use some very old (and cheap) USB 2.0 drives. Secondly, try giving it a bit more time (e.g. up to 10 minutes).

UPDATE: map works!! It was my USB long along. I replaced with a 32GB 2.0 and was able to up the MAPs no issue

**UPDATED** I confirmed today that you do not need the 2018 installed to use this new 2019 update with only 1 USB stick.

Do you have to be running this current map version for this File/Map to work?

My car has the original factory map, and I would like to update it directly to 2019-1.
