Hello don't know if it will work but try make CAN wiring with 2 wires twisted  together  and connect between display and radio to appropriate pins

Radio has one can bus - mid speed can bus.
Display has 3 buses.
First of all you need to make a pair for radio and display.
Then you need to connect it together with 2 wires of can bus

1 - mass
5 - power +12V
19 - CAN - L Radio
20 - CAN - H Radio
22 - MS - CAN - H - Diagnosestecker
23 - MS - CAN - L - Diagnosestecker
25 - LS - CAN -H Airbag
28 - LS - CAN -H BCM

at the moment I have only connected pins 19 and 20
between the radio and the display + power pins 1 and 5

Ok sounds like you have wiring connected properly leave it powered for an hour and then see if it exits safe mode I'm sure there's a button combination that can be pressed to exit safe mode then enter pin but can't remember what it is for this radio

This is a CD30, there is no Safe Mode, it is pared to the display by CAN and the display only shows the state of the system.
You are thinking of CDR500 where there is a wait time and you press AS & ON
