Just a follow up.

A big THANKS for user @Impac that lead me on the right direction.

I forgot to change my FA:
$879 - OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS GERMAN
to
$880 - OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS, ENGLISH

Did that and the "lady" now speaks English to me!!  

My bad!

Hi, congratulations on working out the solution! I've been looking for this for months! But can I ask where the 'FA' is? Which module would I find this in? Is it the CCC_APP? Really interested in changing my car from Dutch.

By FA I mean the VO from the car. You need to add the code to the car's Vehicle Order

Absolutely BRILLIANT . Thanks very much. And for anyone else trying to do similar things with their car, I've just found this:

It lists all of the SA codes for the E9x and E7x cars, like the $880 above, that can be used to modify the VO / FA contents. It also has a list of translations from German to English for many of the fault codes.
