Hi fellas,

Have an Audi a5 2.7 TDI 190ps from 2008 to do, the first models of it.
When I look @ Ksuite 2.47 I find it under OBD at FAM 198 - EDC17CP04
But after choosing it, a warning message apperas that says: "the writing of the MOD file might require the patch operation with tool KTaG. If necessary it will be indicated after the ID procedure" 

What are your experiences with this one?? How big is the chance that it will asks to write it back by Ktag?

or to make shure send me the ecu ID

You can do with obd, kess just warns you that there can be tprot, you can even try to write, if it will not let you to write, than you must read/write on table with bdm. But edc17 better to do on table with bdm tools. Ktag have unlock or tprot off button in micro, and after turning off protection, ktag something changes only in micro, I did not try it but I was interested what it was. you can try do it with ktag and write back micro. Maybe than it will allow you to reprogram flash with kess.

Just to safe, read it with K-TAG and write, then you are sure that all will be ok. You can recover, separate files and remove TPROT if needed. Ktag is much safer option.

Don't have Ktag, I'm also don't even gonna try it by Kess then, he needs to do more then 70km to come, 
Not funny if he's comong for nothing. So probably I pass this one.

What I have but never didn't use it yet is the FTech Galletto v54(Clone version 2016)

Never used it, tolded that it does F series, so not true. But now I toke a view and see in the list that it's able to read/write the A5 2.7/3.0 EDC17CP04/14

Someone tried it before on this-one with Galletto?

Can the Galletto finish jobs that Kess 5.017 cannot? I  tought otherwise, tha why I prefered Kess...

No, if kess cannot than galletto too will not be able to do this. With galletto more likely you can broke ecu than with kess. Do not experiment, buy bdm tools for edc17 ecu's, for these ecu safer to do on table.
