It's not a display problem. It's radio in delivery state.
Activate anti-theft protection for radio using code from display (1753)

You can do it using Opcom or another one tool (Tech2, GM MDI, etc)
Diagnostics -> Year -> Model - Infotainment system -> EHU -> Program ->
Activate Anti-theft protection -> Enter code and press OK

You tried hold AS button and turn on radio method ? 

With radio off press and hold AS turn on radio and wait ten seconds for radio to display 10 then release AS button
you should now be able to enter code smile

Let me know if it works or not
