New to Xentry, need some help
I recently purchased a c3 off ebay, (the one made by actia - original one i believe). it was without the cables which i purchased separately.  I read up on threads downloaded the 9.2014 software and installed it and ran it on a vm configuring the ports as suggested. (com2, 115000 bitrate). Connected the mux with the cables i purchased, one obd ii and one rs232 with the box in the middle of the cable, connected to an fdti serial to usb cable that runs on the host machine and i get nothing.

Any help guys? What am i missing?

RE: New to Xentry, need some help
No serial port on laptop, used 2 serial adaptors with no luck. (i tried the T and D installs). Next step is purchasing a laptop with a serial and doing a native install i just wanted to confirm that everything was working.

RE: New to Xentry, need some help
I bet it isn't any original PartD made by ACTIA. Post some circuit board photos. Could be that it is a clone that only works with a "straight" cable (although many poor quality clones work with a converter cable too). If you buy something made in China and it reads "genuine" on top or "made in France", guess if that is true.

Is your 09.2014 Star Diagnosis SW configured for a PartD or is that step still too far for you. Can you see the mux connected at the toolkit icon if you plug the cable and feed power to the mux?

ok, C3 may have a 4 different RS232 cable configurations. 2 with board in the middle of cable, and 2 without. or maybe just faulty as is happen on ebay.
Some clones are looking very very close to genuine.

I don't have a clue, but let me play more clever biggrin

Oh didn't know that about the clones, thank you for the information. I bought off ebay, top seller that claimed it was genuine, used, from germany. i ll disassemble and post some circuit photos. I did run the ALL_BIN files for part T and for part D and the respective cal fix. Dont know if i m missing something. No connection at all when i connect it, only a light on the mux. (yellow)

Here are some pictures from the guts of the mux, can you tell if it's a clone?

Looks good to me, be it genuine or a clone, does not matter much.

This one definitely needs the serial port cable with an RS485 converter.

RE: New to Xentry, need some help
Update: I got the laptop with a serial (dell latitude e5500 - got an image of an e5500(5/2014) for a c3 and set it up). when i connect the mux in the lower right corner it goes green and it detects it as a part d. But when i go into das then when the communication starts it disconnects. I changed the part-d to part t, d2 and nothing, also tried changing the baud rate, same thing happens. In the toolkit i have a part d as accessible - but in the register/configure tab nothing appears. The connection to the pc is by a cable with the box in the middle. Any ideas?

Thanks!
