I couldn't make it work on my brother's e46, on his it has two ports the round one under the hood and the obd under the steering, i tried the one under the steering and it won't detect terminal 15, What issue where you having?

Early e46? If it has round 20 pin, then u must use it.. early e39 also same.

The issue is the USB/obd2 connector pins don't reach the car's obd2 connector holes properly.

Can the software be updated on the 99 bmw 328i e46? with ista/p, im able to connect to it.
