So I bought a bmw retrokit set for my Mini Cooper S F55 and started installing it. All went fine and i used the diagram provided by the seller connected all cables to the desired placed. Then started coding until I noticed the camera was not working. I could not see ICAM in the ECU tree. So started analysing what could be the cause. Finally noticed that the CAN3 terminal i was using was actually the CAN2 terminal which is not intened for this purpose. So that was the reason why i could not find the camera in the ecu tree.

Started to search for the CAN3 terminal. I could not find this terminal even tough it is shown in ETK:


So i called the dealer and they said that if this option is not present in the car (which is not) then during the fabriaction o the car the wiring is actually based on the options of the car. So it means that the only reason why the can3 terminal would be in the back is if there was a rearview camera from the factory, which there wasnt.

So the only solution is to directly pull the CAN3 cables and connect them to the DBC directly. But the seller suggests we should still use a terminal in between because it has an 120ohm resistor in it, and if we would directly connect the camera it would not work correctly.

So my questions regarding this installation:

- Why the hell i dont have a can3 terminal at the back? (kinda answered it myself)
- Should we still use a can terminal to connect the camera to the bdc? or can we just directly tap from the bdc can connections?

wasted 3 days just to realize there is no can3 terminal in my car

So I found this diagram. It says if no A24 (which is the camera) is available then the cabling to the back and the terminator is not installed, it seems...am i correct?

I retrofit led lights on f56- no can3 terminal in back, connected can3 directly to BDC- all working.

HI,

buy the 120 Ohm resistor, install it, connect CAN3 wires from ICAM to the resistor and from resistor take two wires to the BDC.
The resistor will need connection to ground, too.

Or try to connect it directly to BDC like tokarszczak told it - but I would prefer to use the resitor solution...
