After finding out i'm running West Europe 2010 Maps, i've been pretty keen to update it to 2018 or 2019 ideally. I used an FSC generator which worked well. I tried the 2019-1 1 x USB update first and that failed at around 80% and came up with a message saying "USB Device with Navigation data is unreadable. Continue update?"


I then thought it's probably the new maps firmware. I downloaded a 3 x USB West Europe 2018-1 update, plugged the first USB in, read and started applying update fine. Prompted me to insert 2nd USB, continued fine and then finally prompted me to insert the 3rd USB which I did. Got to 88.8% and it failed and came up with the same message as before "USB Device with Navigation data is unreadable. Continue update?"

I then thought maybe the actual iDrive version is outdated. Went to BMW's website and downloaded the latest version and it told me I was running the most up to date version already. 

I'm 99% sure it's not the USB because it read all the files fine and continued to ask me for USB 1, 2 & 3. Anyone else had this problem before? Any suggestions? Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Here's what i'm doing:

1) Plugging in blank USB with that lets me pull the 1b.hex file off the car
2) Open FCS generator, load the 1b.hex file and enter the other information and click generate
3) Enter the FSC code which was accepted
4) Load USB1, 2 & 3 onto the USB. Replacing the files in the subfolder to the root each time it requests a USB change.

That's where it gets to 88% and say's the USB device with Navigation data is unreadable

In F10 i have the same problem. The light in teh glovebox warmed the flashdrive therefor is unreadable. I close the glovebox, as long as the update lasts,

Are you running stock hard drive in CIC, or SSD upgrade?
I've seen this before on an SSD, I think TRIM was causing problems.

I believe its stock hard drive in CiC

You can do it easily by using E-SYS if you are driving a F series BMW. Search for "How to flash CIC"

he certainly not having F series, coz his maps are 2010.
as previously said, update i-level to current and try again.

I've got an E92 M3. Now worried that because I've entered an FSC code from a generator I won't be able to genuinely upgrade the maps. Just frustrating in this day and age that i'm unable to update a map that's now 9 years out of date...
