Help with flashing needed.
Hello guys, I have a question regarding a gearbox flashing on my Audi A4 B8 2.0 TDI 130kw Multitronic. I have an original VCP interface and software.
I had no problem "downgrading" my engine ecu with original pre-diesel-gate map, however, when I tried to flash Gearbox ECU, flashing stopped with error right at the beginning, writing data to first block.
I have tried this several times, but it is always the same.

I can still access the ECU, however coding is gone and I can not access advanced ECU info. There are no DTCs in gearbox ECU, but there are some on other modules stating they can not communicate with gearbox ecu. I have not tried to start the engine since this occured as the gearbox almost definitely won't work and I do not want to cause any mechanical damage.

This is the software part nr: 8K2927155L
My previous version was: 0005
I tried to flash it with version: 0007 (original Audi file: FL_8K2927155L_)because there was a TPI with some improvements.

I have attached a scan before and after flashing and flashing log.

Can someone help me? Is there a way to somehow flash this new version or at least get back to a previous one without visiting the dealer?
Your help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
Rok

RE: Help with flashing needed.
I have successfully flashed TCU today.
I did two things, I do not know which one actually helped.

- changed flash block size from maximum to default
- i noticed that car battery voltage dropped below 12v when ignition was on, looks like the charger did not properly work or something, so I hooked the charger up directly on car battery in my trunk and waited so that the voltage with ignition would be more than 12v. I then retried flashing and it went smoothly.

RE: Help with flashing needed.
Hi, I think the problem was in low voltage.
Earlier, a couple of times, I also had a problem with that smile
Well done that you yourself found the problem.

RE: Help with flashing needed.
Most probably. Its funny, I was researching everything and it was something so basic smile.
The result of reverting ECU back to pre-diesel-gate-fix version and updating multitronic to the latest version is nice. I definitely feel more torque in lower rpm. It could just be the feeling but I think that acceleration overall is more smooth and responsive.
I would like opinions on two other thing while I am at it.

1.) After updating multitronic version, do I need to make clutch adaptations or something? I like the way gearbox behaves now but still want to be sure if it is optional or necessary? Do not want to cause damage to it.

2.) I am considering EGR delete while the EGR is still working. Is this recommended for this engine? Any downsides? I am talking about software delete, not actual removal. I do not have plans to do stage 1 or any power increase at all, since I do not think this is a good idea on multitronic? Besides, I have enough power as it is. As I said I currently have original rom before diesel-gate-fix from erwin: FL_03L906018JJ_8363.frf

BTW: amazing forum this is, there is so much interesting stuff to read and learn, thank you!

Hello,

Did you scan the Gearbox with VCP since? Is there any DTC stored?

If nothing appears and the car drives smoothly, i think there is no reason to touch anything...

Cheers...

Sébastien.

RE: Help with flashing needed.
Yes I have scanned it, and there were no DTCs stored. Ok, thank you, yes it drives very smoothly, so I will leave it as it is.

RE: Help with flashing needed.
Anyone has an opinion on my second question regarding the software only EGR remove?
Are there any quality online services for this? I would rather pay a bit more, to get the quality EGR remove from an original map.

Thank you!
