If you do not see the leading thread you cut then yes.
Take a photo from above, but I think there's nothing what you would cut. |

Just cut the corner of the SOIC8 board so it fits next to the cap on the R270 red/blue board. Just insert it on the board and solder it on, then trim the leads if they are too long.
No single R270 is delivered with the SOIC8 board already installed. BTW, you can edit VIN with SOIC test clip but you cannot change the mileage without desoldering. With a good hot air station desoldering and resoldering is a piece of cake If the eeprom is 160D0WQ you possibly can't change mileage even if you were to desolder it. In that case you can change eeprom with a new one but you will get a tamper dot because eeprom serial doesn't match what is stored on the processor of the cluster. all 6wa for f10 models can erase vin (only vin) with r270 withoud desoldering or is there any changes in years?

You guys without desoldering eeprom taking risk don't be suprsised later if kombi doesn't work properly. Desoldering only takes minutes
