It will not work on MS45, the virginize and sync. You need to transfer ISN.

Car will only start once, then after module sleep, it will not start.

Sorry to hijacked the thread, but I have similar problem.
I have a x3 2004 3.0 manual with a defective ms45, had the no throttle response issue when the motor would get to warm.

In December I updated from 7540519 to 7561484 with winkfp and i was sure it had fixed the issue as it worked fine until last week. Now it wont reset throttle adaptation at all...

So I found a used ms45.1 with the EWS, but i cant flash a ms45 zusb with winkfp, will i need a bdm?
I tried a few MS45.1 zusb but they all seem to be auto transmission versions as i keep seeing transmission codes on ista, and the pcf7935 chip i program with the ms45.1's EWS wouldnt fire up, i tried to sync it with inpa and then it stopped working and my ak90 device doesnt detect the chip anymore.
So should I get a bdm and EWS editor to flash a ms45 zusb on my ms45.1? Or i need really need a ms45 dme?
And can I run a ms45.1 zusb on my m54? I think i have wideband o2 sensors according to rockauto as they're all the same from 2004 til 2006.

You cannot run ms45.1 on ms45 car. Get the proper dme, and do it right.

Ok thanks, i thought they were similar dme, when i lookup my vin on realoem and bmwcats it gives me both ms45 and ms45.1 so i thought i could run it, or at least virginize it and flash ms45 onto it...

ms41 and ms41.1 are exactly the same dme's except software and 41.0 can be reprogrammed to 41.1, isnt it the same situation with ms45? I would definitely try... just you need fullflash.

No, it's not the same. There are actual hardware differences because of using different sensors.
