Why is it necessary to physically remove EGR?
I would like to remove an EGR from an X5 M57N. What would happen if I just remove it from flash file but leave in the physical unit? Does it not default to closed so once removed from dme and vaccum pump pulled all should be ok?
Id like to understand. |

RE: Why is it necessary to physically remove EGR?
If you just remove all EGR related DTCs you can unplug the socket of EGR and it's closed. If you remap the whole EGR curve you don't need to do anything.
Depends on your tuner |

Ill just delete DTCs and unplug the vaccum pipe to EGR and blank that off. Any idea then why so many people bother with removing it and replacing it with a plain pipe? |

RE: Why is it necessary to physically remove EGR?
depends if egr is operational or broken, depends what you must do and thus what your tuner must do
can be closed in software sometimes as easy as hysteresis, or sometimes even switch the more work required to remove egr then more work required by tuner |
