ZTAudi  Steps To Swap Used ECU into B8 Audi (immo 5)
Could someone outline the Steps To Swap Used ECU into B8 Audi (immo 5)?

The only equipment I currently have is VCDS and as I understand the eeprom dump tools no longer work for the immo 5 vehicles.

Also wondering if the eeprom is standalone or integral to another chip as I could just unsolder it from the board if possible.

You can probably clone the original ecu into the used one with a tuning interface like KTAG.

Part number leads to MED17.
Boot mode tricore clone is easiest. You should not desolder anything.

Sounds good. Is there any guaranteed equipment/method to read/write all versions of the MED 17 via OBD2 or is the only option to open most of these ECU to use Ktag? I'm seeing a lot of issues with chip version etc. and would like to invest in some equipment that will work across other platforms. Maybe mpps v18? or FGTech Galletto V54

In this particular case lifting the tricore and soldering to new board is an option if all the immo date is on the chip.

For EDC/MED17 clone you must open and read eeprom + flash by ktag, fgtech, mpps18.... But clone ecu not always work plug and play some days ago a user had problems on clone ecu for golf 6 biggrin

In case of Immo 5 i dont know a solution for cloning ECU's. I think the problem is in CS - you need to read last byte from working key. AVDI have a solution, but only for programming in the car. This is only way at this moment, i think. I hope i am wrong... Can someone confirm?

Ok. So there is a password/file mod required to get into bootmode. With what tool can I extract this file? Galletto?
