I don't remember whic was the last GDS2 version that works under XP. As I know all goes to Windows 7 or 10.
Also I have just a genuine MDI not a MDI2
Please share some pics to see your issue to understand better.
Good luck

All my MDI's are genuine from Opel dealers.
I don't know why this VM GDS2 comes with XP, but it reaches until 2016 cars, so is relatively recent.
With MDI 1 works good. The reason I want MDI 2 is because is a much more robust tool, don't use the weak usb connection that MDI 1 uses, and has the WIFI expansion.
What disturbs me is that under VM, MDI manager shows MDI 2 correctly (and I am talking always with cable), but once in GDS2 happens what I
told before.

Tomorrow I will make some pics.

I can take a look by Team Viwer if you like.
I did a test for you ( for me just cusriosity ) and I installed Global Tis v32 in Win 7 Ultimate X64
Works ok all what I tested. So I think that in this case you can install GTis, tech2win and GDS2 latest version under native installation of Win 7 X64
Good luck

I did so many combinations that I don't really know what works on what exactly.

GTis 32 as database works ok with win 7 64 that's for sure. But the only laptop I have with win7 64 bit never managed to do SPS and GDS installed from Tis2Web properly, somethig I achieve when I do it on a Win  7 32bit.
But I need Win7 64 bit to run the VM machine for the GDS2 so... what I did is an old Laptop just for SPS and database on Windows XP with a Diagnostic tool downgraded to version 7.xxx (what comes with the installator) and the other just for Tech2Win and GDS2 on Windows 7 64 bit on a newer 8.x.... wich comes with VM GDS2.

And I find curious that MDI Manager and MDI's must have exactly the same version, otherwise you get an "update" warning and the tool is basically blocked under that environment

The only thing I have not tested, is a Win7 64 bit with the original 7.x.x.x driver with usually comes with the package. Maybe is the reason SPS doesn't work, because maybe it needs the 7.x.x.x version

And I Could be wrong, but I think this MDI Manager 7.x.x.x. doesn't detect MDI II ....
