This error does not stop read or write.

It just say unknown ecu. You can still continue and works fine

Did you manage to read any ECU with your KESS?

In many cases of VAG cars under 2000(or even 2000 cars) you have either MSA15 ecu(which need to replace 2 memories - am29f010b), or an EDC15p(do mention, not EDC15p+), with 6 screws(different than EDC15p+ with 4 screws) which cannot be read by OBD, and need to read 29f400bb(bt) by programmer.

But if you wasn't able to read any ECU with your kess, then you need to do a rework
