hello everyone i would like to know if i have to buy a gateway if i install a rcd 510 on my golf 5

no this gateway should be fine to use with rns510
older gateways need reflashing to newer firmware if my post helps please give Reputation

i installed rns510 into my passat which then needed the gateway updating because i had battery drain (forgot which gateway version it was, i think it was B )
its been awhile since i did it, i now have a golf mk5 so transfered the rns510 to this wife also has a golf mk5 which i also installed rns510 into with no problems you dont need to buy a new gateway if you have battery drain then reflash your gateway with newer firmware. you need odis-e and flashfiles to do this also a vas5054a interface if my post helps please give Reputation

then only option would be to find someone with vas5054a or buy a newer gateway
also now thinking about it i think you need the gateway K or above if you cant get yours reflashed if my post helps please give Reputation

Try the trick on the fuse box Find the empty hole of the fuse and make a bridge over the acc on the radio fuse.
