Mixing components from different HW will never work...

And yes this is normal you can not read HDD on Windows man, not only this is QNX file system (Not FAT32 not NTFS) and the HDD is also password protected.

I seriously think BMW coding/programming is definitely not for you rickynguyen, there are tons of info to digest first and you already try to do all those things without knowing the basics.

There no instructor or training course about bmw retrofit in my country. I have to learn everything myself from many forums in internet. Not all problems i got still there, so i have to ask, to do it, try it myself like a child learning to walk then good walk he can run.

Asking so much may annoy some of you but i think it good for many many newbies like me. They need more and more informations to solve their problems.

I think I understand what the repair guy is saying.  He's saying your MCU flash was corrupt so he basically cloned a different MCU onto it. When doing that, the whole identity of the other device goes with it. 

I just started playing with EVO. I'm learning too, nothing wrong with that. I think what people are saying is have a better approach and watch out for assumptions that might be negative to others like "I think they robbed ...."

Now I'd love to learn the pinout of the v850 MCU. how about posting a pic with no red lines ? I've successfully flashed V850s in airbag modules just using a usb uart. I'm only a few days in on playing with EVO. I haven't quite figured out if it's possible to read/write the V850 flash in a root shell. Reading the forums and hacks on Audis, seems like there is a binary harman uses to flash it. I'd assume BMW has something similar, just need to do some more digging on the system and in the update packages.[/size][/color]

Yes and just adding the ram chips doesnt make it 4gb unit as it doesnt recognize them...

Need to modify bootloader for it to recognize 4GB RAM and add some more elements like resistors,capacitors etc.

Cloning V850 will never work and unit will stay in Software Manipulation error.
