How to remove Dieselgate software fix file Golf MK6
Hi All,
I have a Golf MK6 1.6TDI, engine CAYC which had the dieselgate software fix installed before I got it. The software version is 9982 and I am looking to install 9971. I understand that ECU is PCR 2.1 and I will need to unlock the ECU before installing 9971 with the appropriate FRF file. I am trying to figure out if this can all be done with ODIS-E Offline ? If it can't, what would be recommended to complete this job as a DIY project? Thanks! |

Hi
If you write the correct frf file, dont need unlock ECU. Only write with the correct interfaces, odis-E, vagcan pro, X17, etc Lc-Als-Nls Me7.x

I heard the software fix files made it more difficult to roll back because they were locked and needed unlocking first. It would be great if I simply got a cable and Odis-E offline and flash an older software version using an appropriate FRF file. It can't be that simple can it? If it is I may give it a go after I have made a backup of my present ECU. Thanks. |

RE: How to remove Dieselgate software fix file Golf MK6
you only need to unlock it if you want to read via obd but to do that you will have to take the ecu out of the car and k-tag it on the bench unlock it and reinstall,
or as gezame says just writhe the correct file with the correct tool |

So now I will look into getting a valid 9971 FRF file for my ECU 03L 907 425 C. Then as I understand you both mention, I can do a straight firmware overwrite from 9982 using ODIS-E and not have to unlock first. If I am wrong about that, please do let me know. Still unsure on what the unlock does, I understand it will allow read via obd but doesn't ODIS-E offline need to read before it writes the new FRF file anyway? Any other tips would be appreciated as I am still learning the basics. Thanks. |
