XZBMW  CIC Map Update Failure
Hi Guys,

I tried to update map on my 2010 E90 LCI which came standard with Premium Map.

I have tried Map 2017 and 2019 Premium Map and none of these works.  My CIC is on C16 and I'm trying to update via DVD instead of USB as it will not recognize USB map update.

So, after I inserted the first disc, it says "Navigation DVD contains a later version of navigation data.  Some navigation functions will be temporarily unavailable" and I can select Start Update.

After that the next screen will says "The navigation DVD is unreadable.  Continue Update?" and I select Yes.

It will then says "Please insert navigation DVD 1 to start update".  But then the DVD is already in the drive.

If I cancel the update, the CIC will reboot and the navigation will stop and the screen will now says "To start the navigation, please insert the map DVD"

I know the map is still in the HDD as I have taken out the HDD and checked and everything is still there.

Anyone knows how can I exit that screen?  Reboot the CIC or something?

I can provide some screenshot if it makes it clear.  Thanks everyone  handshake

RE: CIC Map Update Failure
yes, update the CIC first and then put the maps on USB

Thanks Dumitru for the quick reply, but before I can find an indy shop to ugprade the CIC firmware; how do I exit the update/ request of DVD screen on the CIC?  Maybe from INPA/ ISTA or Tool32..etc? Thanks

RE: CIC Map Update Failure
the cic is asking for the map so i guess you will probable need to provide him the map in one way or another. since the DVD map is the only option for you at this point, i would try an older version of map  (on DVD). It might accept it easier than this newer one

LE: are you sure the USB is correctly formatted? because from what i remember, i was able to install maps by USB on e9x with C16 sw

I formatted it in FAT32, any other settings or things I should follow to make the USB works?  I can capture the 1B file using USB, but it just won't take the map update via USB.  Thank you  yes

RE: CIC Map Update Failure
make sure is not exFAT. try to format the usb stick using NTFS, put the map on it, reboot the cic and try once again

Thanks Dumitru for the advice...  I will give it a try later today.  Btw, how do I reboot the CIC?

Thanks

RE: CIC Map Update Failure
hold the mute for about 20 seconds (until the cic reboots)

RE: CIC Map Update Failure
Make sure that the map update is on the root folder of the FAT32 formatted USB. The general map updated comes on a folder like "SEA_Premium_2019" and underneath that folder you will find "pkgdb" and "config.nfm", just copy both pkgdb and config to the root instead of keeping it under any folder. I faced the same problem last time.

RE: CIC Map Update Failure
Thanks Dumitru and Youbarajs for the info, but still no luck. I read something on the Internet that it might be due to an earlier bad update/ update interrupt and I will need an earlier map version files to fix it. I will need a premium map from 2014 or earlier. Anyone can share a copy of a 2014 premium map for Hong Kong/ Macao?

I believe it will works with other region's Premium Map from 2014 or earlier and the update it back to the ASIA map once the error has been fixed.

The other thing might be related is the I-level of my car is too old for Map Update, although the CIC version is at C16?

I'm just throwing ideas on how to fix this issue.
