Definitely use E-sys with launcher for FDL coding, FA modification, etc. Launcher Pro 2.8.2 is free until april 2020. The various phone apps can be problematic, so I only recommend BMW official PC software like E-sys. It's well worth the time to learn to code and flash, you can save money and do some very cool things.
I prefer using ISTA+ for I-step upgrades, but that requires an ICOM.
