- Install the module in the Car
- Connect ICOM
- Open ISTA+
- Read Out Vehicle Data
- Complete Identification

Test Plan
Service Plan and there is gonna be the updates u need to do to the car.

It is not very easy in ISTA+... it was a very easy task in ISTA P

I have this same issue now that I have to use the ISTA+ on 17 and newer S1000RR

I have a KOMBI for example I want to replace with a salvaged unit with a different VIN than the ECU I am working on. I can get it to the point of ISTA+ making the measurement plan 

Then as you can see in the posted pictures it indicates to CLOSE the operation. 

When I reopen the operation I cannot get it to recognize that the part is changed and move on with the programming.

And after replacing are you going to closed operations, open the earlier closed operation and proceed with measures plan? Ill try it myself. I also think when a unit is replaced whole car must be programmed! If that is the case then simply replacing unit and programming car will resolve the replacement (as long as the ECU replaced is allowed unit (ecus that can be replaced with used)

Yesterday I programmed a new BMSX with ISTA+ without problem.
The Bike was 2014/09 and the owner connect the battery with wrong polarity.
By a new DME and I select the ISTA+ with "replaced" and of course, programmed with whole Bike.

Btw: sometimes ISTA accepts used units.
I did a reverse camera retrofit from ISTA with used TRVC (or whatever is called) unit.
In my surprise ISTA didn't claim that at all! It first flashed the whole car and then did a retrofit without any problems.
I guess that it depends what modules You can replace with used ones with ISTA.
Actually the "replace" function is a bit mysterious to me. Example: when I replace DDE (or DME) I don't call anything special lin ISTA at all. simply start measuers plan and ISTA detects that there is a new unit and programs and codes it ok.

Anyway, You can allways use esys...
