2001 BMW Z3 Engine swap DME question
Customer called with some questions
he swamped the original engine M54 2.5 with a new engine M54 3l came from e46 330Ci from 2003 original set up was with DME MS43 ,EWS3 old plug . Donor engine came with DME MS45.1 EWS 3 Wire harness still original. whats the easiest solution to make this car run properly? |

Put engine in, use old engine oxygen sensors, get MAF from 2001-2002 330i, and then flash the Z3 dme with WinKFP to Z3 3.0i.
Is this a North American Z3? |

So yea, flash original dme with WinKFP to 7545697. It will probably do 2 flashes, one for programming section and one for data section.
You must not reuse any oxygen sensors from the donor 330i, they are wideband. Then you should also source the 3.5" tubing, and an early 330i MAF with the same kind of plug you have on the car. The intake manifold should be from the 330i as well, depending how complete your engine was. |
