BMW e60 525d swirl flap delete
Quick question about a BMW e60 525d 2005 with vacuum actuator for swirl flaps. I blanked the swirl flaps on my engine but i don’t know what should i do with the vacuum hose that goes from the swirl flap actuator. On some post i read that i should leave the vacuum hose conmected, on other posts people have gutted the hose with a screw.
What should i do? |

Hello, You must read original file, make flaps off, write file, and disconnect actuator |

put screw in hose or in main vacuum supply under intake manifold where pipes connects no need to make flaps off or disconnect connectors.

From what i heard, only on electronic actuator works. |

RE: BMW e60 525d swirl flap delete
If the flaps are coded out you can leave the vacuum hose connected.
On the E60 525d you don't need to code out the flaps though. There's no feedback so if the flaps aren't present the DDE will not be aware and it doesn't cause any issues. If not coded out you should disconnect the vacuum hose and plug the end of the hose. That will stop the actuator moving the flaps and it will prevent a vacuum leak. If you don't plug the hose you'll have a leak in the vacuum system and that will cause all sorts of problems. |

RE: BMW e60 525d swirl flap delete
The tuner that remapped the car said the flaps were coded out but as i was reading, you can code out only the electric controlled actuators, not the vacuum controlled actuator... that is why i was asking what to do with the vacuum hose after the swirl flaps were removed from the intake manifold.
I plugged a screw in the hose that went from the actuator to the swirl flap vacuum box and did a little test drive with the car. All good, no low end problems. After, i removed the screw and connected the hose to the swirl flap vacuum box. Then took it for a drive again. There are low end problems now with the hose connected! Returned to the garage and plugged the screw back; no more low end problems! In all the tests, there were no codes on the dashboard or ISTA. Hope this will help others in the future. If you don’t want low end problems, don’t leave everything connected as it was, plug a screw on the vacuum hose that goes from the actuator to the swirl flaps vacuum box. Thank you all for your answers. |
