i3 SAS retrofit problem
Hi,

I have been busy retrofitting Driving Assistant Plus (5AT) with Traffic Jam Assistant (5AR) for a while now.
I almost have everything working except the SAS module in the back, I have checked all the wiring and it is all connected and wired correctly but the SAS module is not showing up in E-Sys.

I did a TAL calculation and E-sys reported it was missing the SAS module so it should be listed as a individual ECU even though it is also connected directly by S-CAN with the KAFAS ECU.
I even bought another SAS module but it does the same (nothing) so the SAS module is not faulty, the chance of them both being faulty would be pretty low I guess??

These are the diagrams I used to wire it all.
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/i01-i...1VnXcQLTdO

I even wired the FlexRay loops on the Body Domain Controller from pin 9 to 21 and from pin 10 to 22 but I don't know if these are even necessary?
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/i01-i...1VnXQh6Emq

I also wired the S-CAN loop on the KAFAS module, but again it is unclear to me what this does and if this is even necessary at all to get this working?
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/i01-i...1VnXUAJ2Y3

I have all the necessary parts installed in the car: SAS module, KAFAS camera, KAFAS module, F15 KAFAS repair wiring, new windscreen, intelligent safety button, steering column switch cluster, steering wheel with touch sensor and new ABS sensors.

So at this point I really don't know where to look anymore, so if anyone has any clue on where to look or point me at what the problem could be it would be highly appreciated! happy

Thank you in advance! yes

EDIT: I have fixed the issue it was very easy if you know what to look for, nobody tells you about the Flexray enabling you have to do!

For the i3 you have to use Tool32 and load ZGW_01 and choose job steuern_flexray_pfad then type 0x03;0x01 and press F5 to enable FlexRay Port 3 on the ZGW, after that the SAS module will be detected right away!

Hi,

Loop are necessary in order to have resistor for termination.

As I understand it, there was no SAS before?

Do you VO code the BDC with 5AT as it is necessary in order to BDC to enable pin 27, 28 and others pin for the loop ?

And maybe a stupid question, did you check that you have power at SAS ? The F60 fuse ?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply!
Good to know so the loops are needed so that's good, I'll check them again to be sure they are connected properly.

Correct there was no SAS before I retrofitted all the parts.
Yes I VO code all the modules with 5AT, also checked power and it is going to the SAS.
I also checked continuity for all the wires and they are fine.

RE: i3 SAS retrofit problem
I've coded a retrofitted SAS module in i3. I can solve the problem remotely for you. You will also need to replace all abs wheel sensors - they are different for 5AT option.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!
I have resolved the problem yesterday, had to open port 3 for Flexray on the ZGW.

I know I have also replaced the ABS sensors, system works now! smile
