Cant update F10 with ISTAP, ISTA+ or Esys
First time I have encountered such a problem. Its a F10 2011. I attempted to update the car with the following outcomes - ICOM NEXT genuine

1. ISTA+ 4.08 - Technical difficulty in connecting to car, does not enter programming at ALL!! Usually with ISTA+ such issues have to do with ethernet malfunction, not sure is that is the issue
2. ISTAP - Scans car ok, works out measures plan, THEN ASKS THAT ALL ECUS BE EXCHANGED!! I wonder what would happen if I went ahead and run the measures plan?
3. Esys 3.33 - SVT ist calculation takes 1 second happy  But no suggestion of update on any of the modules.
4. Esys 3.27 - SVT ist calculation takes 2 seconds. ONLY DME marked for update but software check says some swfl missing!!

In 3 and 4 am going full flash and shipment int level correctly filled in. Tried single flash and construction in progress, same results.

I have seen an SIB about ATM causing such a problem on the F87. I don't have ATM, I have combox. Any ideas where to start? I have a feeling it has to do with gateway but no idea what exactly is the issue.

RE: Cant update F10 with ISTAP, ISTA+ or Esys
Hello!

Don't use ISTA-P to update a f-series (except F01/F07). When E-Sys needs only seconds to calculate an update you did something wrong. Sure that you choosed the shipment i-level correctly?

RE: Cant update F10 with ISTAP, ISTA+ or Esys
Yes I did. Tried it in two ways
1. In connection page selected read shipment from VCM
2. In VCM master tab read integration level from car and confirmed it is the one in SVT target calculation. Target integration level is of course psdzdata integration level.

Basically for some reason esys is not seeing a difference between shipment integration level and my psdzdata integration level. Very strange. I have done this many times before so I believe it is not user interface errorsmile

What is telling is inability if ista+ to go into programming. It fails to connect. The istap version I have still has F series in it. It is not the latest. The car has integration level 11-xxx for your info and istap version circa 2017. I will try ISTA+ 4.13 and see if there is any difference.

RE: Cant update F10 with ISTAP, ISTA+ or Esys
Whats the VIN of this car and what is your i step shipment? Sometimes some people run with wrong FA when doing retrotifs and writes new ZK and or FA to the cars VCM, and this messes up ISTA(P) integration with programming.

Make sure FA and I STEPS are correct, compare with BMW ASAP.

Sounds like a plan. Vin is DW34365. I have ISTAP log. Ill have a look at the VO using vin decoder data. Thinking back I think integration level is factory, I confused it with another I did same day.. I have updated my post.

RE: Cant update F10 with ISTAP, ISTA+ or Esys
Did this car have engine upgraded? According to VIN this car is 520i, but in VO the type code is 5A52 which is 528i (if I'm not mistaken). Though all the serial numbers of units in the car seems to match original delivery.

Anyway a VERY strange car. Last visit at any dealer with it was at 19km.

RE: Cant update F10 with ISTAP, ISTA+ or Esys
Yes something very funny. It is from Singapore and we know cars from there get tampered with. I remembered that when I had clone ICOMs without ethernet, ISTA+ programming would not work. So I today connected ethernet cable and sure as daylight, no ZWG!! It seems only diagnosis netwok is alive, no ethernet.

Ill check wires and also try replacement ZWG if wiring turns out OK. Ill also recheck VO. Engine seems original, 4 cylinder N20.

Strange indeed.
