Different slashes maybe a problem that it is on MAC. I have no advice.

Everything works perfectly after I moved SDP to the external SSD and connected it to the VM directly

Update.
The whole problem was I did not have a full database installed. I was trying to up date something that wasn't there and of course it failed. (User error)
Now it's fixed and working. Still need to connect to a car of course, but at least the install is working as intended.
