6NW Retrofit
Hi, I'd like to retrofit 6NW wireless charging on an F30 LCI. The car doesn't have 6NS from factory so no phone signal booster. According to ISTA wiring diagram I need to buy the LTE compensator and place it on the left side of the trunk. The car has roof ATM from factory but it's the 3G version, will the plug to connect the compensator be there? I don't want to lower the headliner just to look since it takes a lot of time.
An other option is to wire accordingly to the japanese version (807 FA) which doesn't have any compensator, only VCC and ground plus pin 16 to ground that on ECE version would be the activation pin (wired to the compensator). What should I do? Do I get any benefit from the signal booster? It would be much easier if I don't have to lower the headliner and dismantle almost the whole car interior. Wiring diagram ECE version Wiring diagram japanese version My car vin is K415664. Thanks for any suggestion! |

RE: 6NW Retrofit
It can work without, but I don't know how much signal there is, or how much more should be with the amplifier in line.
I installed the wireless charging plate in a North American F31 (09/2013 build) with 6NS option, no amplifier present. I am thinking of possibly adding one. Will have to run some wires to the amplifier, and possibly extend the antenna cable to reach the amplifier and TCB. Charging works well. |

The biggest question I have is if my 3G ATM (so no 4G or 4G WLAN versions!) has got the plug to connect the amplifier to. Unfortunately my car's ATM is between the roof and the headliner so is a very long job to get there properly, that's why I'm asking. |

RE: 6NW Retrofit
I would search for your ATM on google for someone selling it with pictures, and you will see what inputs it has.
Also, the 6NS option doesn't come equipped with LTE amplifier. |

Haha I already tried that but unfortunately no one is selling it, probably a rare part... I’ll try removing the third brake light, maybe I can see inside from there! But the big question remains: do you think it’s worth the hassle to disassemble almost the whole car interior to install the LTE amplifier, that when installed won’t even amplify LTE signals but only 3G ones since I have the poor-man ATM |
