Hello everyone.

I'm a beginner retrofitter who owns a 2013 Audi A3 8V which has accomplished several things already, including footwell lights, genuine reversing camera, door lights, etc. I want to go to the next level and learn about online coding and ODIS.

In my country, there is only one company that does online coding and it feels unfair because they never have patience to explain, they just charge a lot of money for basic things.

I have purchased a VAS5054A clone on eBay for 60$ and I want to start to mess with ODIS to learn how things work, so maybe some of you can answer my questions:

1. What is ODIS and what does it support?
2. How does the process of online coding works? I've heard terms like SVM, FEC.
3. Can I use ODIS or do I need to be authroized by VW?
4. I've seen online posts about ODIS acc rental, how doesa it work? Is it legal?
5. What software can I run to try my VAS5054A cable? I have Windows 10 but have WIndows 7 on VM.

1.Odis it's official software of the VW/Audi etc,with this you can make adaption,basic settings,update of firmware (Odis-e),coding and other functions.
