XZBMW  Please help! EWS not working! Damage!
Hello all! 
 I guess this is the best place  I can get help with my issue!
 So I have this 2008 BMW X3 3.0si , No crank No start then another day when I try to crank the engine   The relay on EWS keep clicking rapidly, hooked up a scanner Foxwell NT520pro was not able to identify vehicle automatically. I went ahead got a piece used EWS 3 off eBaydand I know this is not a plug and play! And I do realize that the original EWS is 4.4 but I not able to get a used 4.4.
 So my question is, can I do it this way? Replacing EWS4.4 with EWS3 by viginize it and then re sync them?

Thank you for your time, any suggests will be highly appreciate!

I don't think that ews3 can replace ews4.4

Thank you for your opinion! Well I am able to get a used Ews4.4, here is the real question How do I wipe out the data inside or how do I change the data in it？？by using a AK90 ? Thank you again

Is this ews has 2l86d mcu ?
If yes can you read orig data ? If yes
Read both data and save them . then just write orig to donor ews
It should work .

Not sure if the damaged EWS is accessible , I dont have the AK90 in hand right . Is there a method to just clear all the datas stored in the EWS? Thank you!

You can desolder the microcontroller from ews4.4 and solder to replacement ews4.4.

You cannot downgrade, nor virginize.


Also, a new ews at dealer is just over $100....

Indeed I did find one cost about $135USD!  For this brand-new EWS, Do I just plug in and resync with DME?

Just plug in and drive. You may have to code default settings if that wasn't done.. but that's simple.

There is no sync with your dme, as it is the MSV80. No rolling codes.
