XZBMW  EGR reset adaptation values
Hi,

I plugged my PC to ISTA and I got an error about the EGR flap.
Error code in ISTA is 29EB00.
I have ordered a new EGR, Cooler and a solenoid valve.
Do I have to reset the adaptation of the EGR after I am replacing it?
The EGR was cleaned before without resetting the adaptions.
If I do need to reset them, can someone tell me, please, how can I do this?

The car is an F31 N47 engine 320d.

I have attached the picture with the error and exhaust gas pressure and there is a ‘big’ difference on Exhaust gas pressure before DPF. ~100 hPa difference.

The car has 162k miles and DPF was cleaned not long ago at dpfcentre.

Thank you in advance.

RE: EGR reset adaptation values
1. You do realize that "bypass flap" and EGR valve are two different things? And if you ordered the new OEM cooler it will come with new EGR too?
2. The exhaust backpressure sensor may also be clogged/faulty. What is the pressure with engine off? Does it drop immediately when turning engine off?

You should do tests in ISTA for both exhaust pressure and cooler bypass valve and post those here if you want help. They are much more informative than a single error or measurement.

RE: EGR reset adaptation values
I have found this f*cker whilst checking where the issue is.
There was not enough pressure for the sensor to read it right.
Still need to reset the adaptations tho as I’m cleaning the EGR.

RE: EGR reset adaptation values
There is reset adaptations service function in ISTA.
BTW bypass valve is also vacuum controlled. You need to check tubing for it too. And the electric valve controlling the vacuum.

Is that the pipe to exhaust pressure sensor in the picture? If so I would expect 0 pressure difference from ambient! But then it is also adaptable.

Hi Node,

Thank you for trying to help. I will do some tests a bit later.
That pipe is from the main vacuum supply to the egr cooler solenoid valve.

Thank you,
Alex

RE: EGR reset adaptation values
Ok, that explains your cooling bypass flap problem. Then only exhaust backpressure problem remains.

RE: EGR reset adaptation values
Just done a 2 hours trip and checked the car again, all good smile
Exhaust counterpressure value:
Idle speed: -14 mbar Max 35 mbar
2000 rpm: 6.96 mbar max permissible 75mbar
Cutoff speed 4000 revs: highest measure 67.98 mbar out of 200 mbar

Looks good smile
Exhaust backpressure 1mbar
Thank you for your help
