RE: Icom A1 repair
All red lights mean that either CPU is not starting or selftest fails. Can you access web interface when all reds?
It's quite frequent for chips to fail in this mode, not only CPUs. If they overheat frequently they begin to gradualy fail. The more they fail the more and faster they heat up. After some time they overheat immediately after power on, hence all reds after immediate restart. When it cools down it starts again. And knowing that A1s (especially clones) are prone to CPU overheating I would bet the reason is 99% failed CPU. Remaining 1% is some capacitor gone bad and beginning to short some power rail after heating up. Then power rail regulator protection kicks in and CPU does not start. In you want to find out the real cause get thermal camera and look at system board immediately after connecting to car to see which part heats up fastest. |
